Using the Guide to Emergency Preparedness for Orientation
As we mentioned in the article above, many of our clients use the guides we published for them as orientation tools for substitute teachers. They maintain a few copies of the Emergency Preparedness Guide in the school or district office, and provide a copy as part of a substitute orientation packet. On or prior to the educator’s first day they review the guide with them. They include in the guide, or as a supplement to the guide, a class roster that includes a photo of each student in the classroom. This will allow the teacher to visually identify each student, which is helpful in the classroom and in the event of an emergency situation or a drill.
