Social Media Awareness for Staff

July 2nd, 2021 by Guest Communications

Now more than ever the digital and social media world has flowed into the classroom and school environment. This changing landscape has had positives for learning but has also had a multitude of negative implications on a school’s culture and climate.

The use of social media outside the classroom undoubtedly follows our students into the classroom and, as frontline professionals, it is key to maintain periodic and relevant education of the evolving trends online. It is also important to maintain baseline levels of knowledge in relation to how technology and social media are currently being used by students. Best practices and current policies from the field will be shared including staff’s professional and personal use of social media as well as guidelines around interacting with students online.

Training will include:

  • Staff and student online safety
  • Understanding the evolving youth trends online
  • How technology and social media are currently used by students
  • How to recognize and respond to cyberbullying
  • Best practices and current policies from the field
